Tired of the same old tired office Christmas party? Here are ten office party ideas that will turn a run-of-the-mill corporate party (yawn) into an event to remember, one that people will talk about for years to come. (My favorites are #1 and #10 -- if you do one of these at your holiday party, come back and share how it goes!)
1. Do a holiday gift exchange for the kid in you and then donate the toys.
This works great as a Secret Santa, where you draw names (www.Elfster.com makes that easy) and don't tell whose name you have, but instead of giving another under-$20 impersonal soap set or stupid gag gift, you choose a gift that person would have loved when they were a child. (Read more about how to do it here.) Things I've given and gotten include art supplies, a baseball mitt and ball, a Barbie Dream Car and a huge stuffed pony.
At the party, the receipient gets to experience the childhood joy of unwrapping the absolutely perfect gift, and then (and this is the best part) you donate all the toys to your local toy collection program. I bet you’ve never had this much fun at work.
